Happy Mother's Day

Updated: Dec 20, 2018

Being a Mom is not just a one day celebration. My own mom is 91 so I am happily celebrating her. I am the Mom of 2 children, age 29 and 27. As a retired school teacher for about 34 years I thought I was pretty good with kids, and before mine I had many words of wisdom on how to raise children based on my school experience. Well, after becoming Mom to Hannah and Sarah I realized it was the hardest job I every had. Yet also the most rewarding. The girls had and still have many challenges, both were born in Bulgaria and lived in orphanages the first 4 and 5 years of their lives. They struggled in school, had to learn a new language and culture. I could go on and on about the challenges but this is about being a mother.

Sarah called me yesterday while I was getting my hair cut. She very kindly said, "I changed my plans for Monday, I really want to come home to the lake with you Sunday and Monday. Let's do whatever you want. I just want to spend time with you. I love you, Mom". My hairdresser said, "boy, I really wish my kids would talk to me like that, what a kind tone of voice and true sincerity".

So, remember if you are struggling, kids do eventually grow up, become your best friend, and how sad and lonely your life would be without them.

Close by or far away, do something kind and loving for your Mom, for your Kids, for being a Mom!
